A Note
TO OUR
COMMUNITY

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

This year has been like no other. Certainly, the impact of the ongoing pandemic has been felt right here in our hometown of Darien.

While the core mission of The Darien Foundation is to enhance the lives of all residents, we have responded to pressing needs faced by our community during this time.

The Darien Foundation is committed to working closely with local leaders to address these needs, while also providing ongoing support of initiatives and grants that help Build a Better Darien.

Stay safe and be well,

THE DARIEN FOUNDATION provides grants for technology and capital initiatives which create opportunity for Darien’s youth, support our town’s safety and security services, and enhance the overall quality of life in Darien.

This year, the mission and response of The Darien Foundation are more important than ever. With your generous support, we can continue to serve our community during these uncertain times.

THANK YOU FOR
YOUR SUPPORT.

Serving Meals and Hellos to Those in Need

We partnered with Corbin Cares to provide nutritious, ready-to-eat meals for food-insecure families and seniors in Darien. Keeping the goodness (and business) local, meals were sourced from neighborhood restaurants.

Perhaps as important, those picking up lunch at the Mather Senior Center were welcomed by volunteers offering moments of distanced social engagement—a daily highlight during a difficult, isolating lockdown.

Teaching Young Minds How to Choose Love

Our grant funded The Depot’s expansion to include middle-school students and to provide enrichment opportunity from the Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement—a curriculum designed to foster confidence and compassion, help young people make better decisions, and empower them to connect with others on healthy levels.

Promoting Public Safety and Informing Emergency Response

We funded the acquisition of new technology for the Darien Police Department that informs police decision-making in virtual-reality simulations. Scenario training helps officers assess response to threats, with a focus on de-escalation and safety.

Additionally, a high-tech 3-D laser scanner will map Darien’s public schools and other public venues, empowering a proactive police response in the event of an emergency.
