The Darien Foundation’s Mission Statement

The mission of The Darien Foundation for Technology & Community is to provide private funding for technology and community capital projects that will benefit the citizens of Darien. Our goal is to offer a central location for residents and corporate donors who wish to support worthy town projects. We remain committed to supporting technology initiatives for the public schools and other town organizations. We also seek to provide a central funding resource for groups undertaking capital projects that will benefit the Darien community. Our broad and diverse Board of Directors strives to apply a consistent methodology in reviewing grant requests and holding grant recipients accountable.

All grants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be consistent with The Darien Foundation’s mission statement
  • Funds are to be spent on one time cost, not recurring/operating costs


Grant requests should include:

  • Name and mission statement of the organization requesting the grant
  • Detailed list of the grant components (hardware, software, other equipment)
  • Cost estimate of the request
  • Description of the benefit that the grant will provide to the organization
  • Description of how this grant will be of benefit to the Darien community


Grant applicants may be asked to make a presentation to the Board of Directors. Grant decisions are made by the Board of Directors at monthly Board meetings.
