In March of 2020, the Darien Foundation partnered with Corbin Cares to fund a $75,000 grant to provide meals for seniors and for families in Darien affected by the difficult lockdown situation. Over 5,000 healthy, restaurant-prepared meals were given out in Darien through July 2, 2020.

As a result of the longer than expected duration of the COVID-19 crisis, in the fall of 2021, Corbin Cares and The Darien Foundation went back to work to support the people who support Darien – and to support our local businesses.

Donations to Corbin Cares Phase Two, through The Darien Foundation, were used to fund gifted meals prepared by a group of local restaurants and caterers for Darien Public School teachers and staff, volunteer firefighters, the Darien Police Department, EMS Post 53, employees of the Town of Darien and postal workers.

With the help of countless donors, as well as a $25,000 donation from The Darien Foundation, our goal has been met! 910 delicious family meals for four and 110 meals for EMS Post 53 were served!

Special thanks to 200+ residents, organizations, companies and individuals who made this possible, including:

People’s United Bank – $10,000
Lions Club of Darien – $5,000
Barrett Bookstore – $2,700
Day Pitney Law Firm – $1,000

Darien Chamber of Commerce

About Corbin Cares:

Corbin Cares works with The Darien Foundation, The Community Fund of Darien, The Darien Lions Club, Food Rescue US, and several local restaurants to get healthy, ready-to-eat meals delivered to those in our community who are food insecure and to our hospital & healthcare workers during this battle with Covid-19. Corbin Cares was initiated by Baywater Properties and PG Properties in connection with their redevelopment of a portion of downtown Darien, which they have branded The Corbin District.
